Optional Factors for Freshman Admission
Teacher Recommendation
One (1) teacher recommendation will be considered if you choose to submit this information. Recommendations must be completed through the evaluation form on the Common App (other recommendation formats will not be accepted). We recommend that you ask a teacher of an academic subject (for example, English, math, science, social science, or foreign language) to complete the form as instructed and mail a copy to Georgia Tech. We will only consider one (1) recommendation, therefore if you send multiple forms, we will only use the first one that arrives in our office.
SAT Subject Tests
Students are not required to take SAT Subject Tests for admission to Georgia Tech. However, if you have taken the exams, you are welcome to submit your scores to our office for consideration with your application. You may also earn course credit for Chemistry and/or English subject tests. Click here to learn more!
AP Scores
AP test results that are submitted electronically at the time of application may be reviewed for freshman admission. However, you are not required to submit exam results when you apply. If you are admitted and choose to enroll, we would encourage you to submit all results at that time for possible course credit. Click here to learn more about scores required for credit!
IB Scores
IB results are used to award course credit for incoming students. Click here to learn more about scores required for credit. For students attending an IB school that does not award letter or number (0-100) grades, we will use the IB results to evaluate the academic performance for admission.
Additional Information
This portion of the application provides an opportunity for you to detail any signficant outside factors that occurred during your time in high school. Examples include life circumstances (changes in family status, changing schools due to moving, etc.), or any other occurance that positvely or negatively impacted your education.
