Advanced Placement Tests for College Credit

Before progressing to advanced courses in your major, you must complete basic course requirements in chemistry, physics, math, English, social studies, and the humanities. Many superior students entering Georgia Tech are capable of demonstrating a thorough understanding of the subject matter addressed in initial undergraduate courses. That's where advanced placement can benefit you. By demonstrating your knowledge of a subject, you may exempt designated courses for academic credit or advanced class standing.

Such students may earn college credit or advanced standing at Georgia Tech by taking (1) a College Board Advanced Placement Test in conjunction with a designated high school advanced placement class; (2) an SAT II Subject Test; (3) a Georgia Tech departmental exam; or (4) an International Baccalaureate higher-level exam.

For a complete description of the required test scores and the corresponding credit that may be earned, please review the Advanced Placement Brochure.
