Which Date Is Right For You?
The October 15 early application date is non-binding and is there to help accommodate students in our applicant pool who wish to know their decision sooner and to provide our counselors with more time to give each applicant a thorough and holistic review. The application and evaluation is the same for all decision rounds.

Students who complete their applications by October 15 are eligible to know their admission decision by mid-December.  This is also the final date for students to be considered for the President's Scholarship and Honors Program. The final deadline for applications is January 10.

Students who have studied outside the United States during high school should apply no later than December 15th but may apply by October 15, if they so choose.

Explanation of Defer Decision
Students who are deferred from an early round are those for whom we would like to get more information before making a final decision. We also want to evaluate these students in the context of our overall applicant pool by delaying a decision until March. If you have been deferred, click here to learn more about appropriate next steps.

Explanation of Wait List Decision
Based on the number of applications we receive each year and the limited number of spaces in our freshman class, we are unable to accept every student who is capable of being successful at Georgia Tech. However, each year, some students who are offered admission do not accept their space in our incoming class. A decision of wait list signals that we believe you have qualities that could make you an excellent student at Georgia Tech, and, should space become available, we may extend an offer of admission. For fall 2011, around 700 students accepted a place on our wait list and 43 percent of those students were ultimately offered admission. If you have been offered a place on our wait list, click here to learn more about appropriate next steps.
