Do you accept late applications?
No. Application deadlines are established so Undergraduate Admission can provide sufficient time and attention to each application as part of our holistic review process.
Where can I see my application checklist and requirements?
Students can view their checklist and requirements online at mychecklist.gatech.edu. Please allow 2 – 3 business days for an application to be processed and mychecklist page to be created.
How do I submit application documents or transcripts to Georgia Tech?
Visit the document submission page to review electronic and direct mail information.
Can I change my major after I apply to Georgia Tech?
No. Applicants are reviewed for the specific academic major listed on the online application.
Can I change my major after I have been admitted to Georgia Tech?
Admitted students student may pursue a formal change of major after their first semester, however, requesting a major change requires the approval of all academic colleges and departments involved, and is not guaranteed, especially for high demand majors.
When must course requirements by major be complete?
Review the deadline and decision page for course requirement deadlines. Course requirements by major may not be completed at Georgia Tech. Completion of course requirements by major provides students the opportunity for admission consideration to Georgia Tech.
Can credit by exam (AP/IB/SAT II) or Dual Enrollment credit satisfy a course requirement by major?

How can I strengthen my application with rigorous coursework?
Complete minimum and recommended courses as listed on the course requirements by major chart. A student can also review the Institute catalog and see degree requirements for each major at Georgia Tech.
Can I submit a credit evaluation request before I apply?
No. A student can submit a credit evaluation request after application submission and activation for the specific term. Review the transfer credit page for more information.
When is the deadline for a credit evaluation request?
Review the deadline and decision page for credit evaluation request deadlines. It is the student’s responsibility to review course requirements on the transfer equivalency table and initiate any credit evaluation request.
What course requires a credit evaluation request?
What do I need as part of a credit evaluation request?
A student will need a copy of the course syllabus along with textbook information. A topic outline is also helpful if it is not listed on the syllabus. Provide as much course information as you can to avoid requests for additional information and decision delays. Review the transfer credit website for information.
Is a credit evaluation request necessary if course requirements are listed on the transfer equivalency table?
No. Please do not submit credit evaluation requests for coursework listed on the transfer equivalency table.
How long must I wait for a credit evaluation decision?
The Office of the Registrar requires at least 15-20 business days for credit evaluation decisions. Additional time may be required during high volume and peak processing periods.

What is the minimum grade point average to apply to Georgia Tech?
The minimum GPA is 3.3 for College of Engineering and Computing applicants. The minimum GPA is 3.0 for all other GT academic colleges. Go to the Grade Point Average (GPA) page for more information.
What grading system do you use when calculating GPA?
Georgia Tech calculates GPA according to a 4.0 scale. Quality points are assigned to each letter grade (A – 4, B – 3, C – 2, D – 1, F – 0, WF - 0) when performing overall and math/lab science GPA calculations. Georgia Tech recalculates GPA from academic transcripts that have a plus and minus grading system.
Does English taught as a foreign language or exam scores satisfy English Proficiency requirements?
No. Two college-level English Composition courses are required to satisfy English Proficiency. Most international students complete this coursework at a U.S. institution unless there is equivalent coursework on the transfer equivalency table.
What is the academic transcript requirement at Georgia Tech?
An official college transcript in English from all previous colleges (domestic and international) is a requirement. An official transcript in English as part of a foreign credit evaluation from WES, Josef Silny or NACES member is acceptable.
What is a foreign credit evaluation?
A foreign credit evaluation is required of applicants who have completed college-level coursework outside the U.S. It provides course, credit, and GPA information in English as determined by WES, Josef Silny or NACES member. This information is included within our holistic review but does not guarantee or provide transfer credit to Georgia Tech.
What is a credit evaluation request?
A credit evaluation request is required if a student is not able to see transfer credit for course requirements by major on the transfer equivalency table. For example, international applicants may have to submit a credit evaluation request for English or Lab Science coursework if their institution or courses are not listed on the transfer equivalency table. Are ACT or SAT test scores required as part of a transfer application?
Can I exempt the English Composition requirements with high SAT or ACT scores?
A student can receive credit for ENGL 1101 (not ENGL 1102) through AP, IB, and SAT II Subject test scores only. Review the Institute catalog for test score information.
Can I receive transfer credit for AP exam results or AP credit awarded by another institution?

What is the tuition classification/residency policy at Georgia Tech?

When is tuition classification reviewed?
A preliminary check is completed after initial application review. A second review takes place after the decision notification date. Georgia Tech may request certified tax documents (state and federal) as part of this review.
Can I petition for in-state tuition classification?
Yes. A student may petition the Office of the Registrar after the decision notification date if there is not sufficient information for Undergraduate Admission to make a tuition classification change.
