The transfer application process is a selective, competitive process. Georgia Tech uses a holistic review process to select applicants who will benefit from the campus learning environment and enrich the entire student body. Minimum application requirements to apply are listed below.
Transfer Credit Hours
An eligible transfer applicant is a degree-seeking student who has completed a minimum of thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter credit hours transferable to Georgia Tech. This includes students who have earned college credit through Move On When Ready (MOWR), dual enrollment, early college, or examination (AP or IB).
A transfer student may not enroll in the same year as the student's high school graduation. For example, if a student graduates high school in May 2017, the student will not be eligible to enroll as a transfer student until 2018 or later.
An official transcript is required from all previous colleges or universities (domestic and international). A foreign credit evaluation from a credential evaluation agency is also required of students with international coursework. Georgia Tech is unable to waive or exclude prior college credit or enrollment as part of the application process.
Course Requirements by Major
Course requirements by major must be complete by the course requirement deadline. It is the student’s responsibility to review the transfer equivalency table and review course requirements by major are complete and transferable to Georgia Tech.
Georgia Tech requires two English Composition course requirements (ENGL 1101 & ENGL 1102) for all transfer applicants to satisfy English proficiency and Georgia Tech degree requirements.
English composition courses must be transferable to Georgia Tech as ENGL 1101 and ENGL 1102 on the transfer equivalency table. English language proficiency exam scores (ex. TOEFL, IELTS) and English taught abroad as a foreign language do not satisfy the English Proficiency requirement at Georgia Tech.
Transfer Credit Evaluation Request(s)
A transfer credit evaluation request may be required as part of a transfer application. A transfer credit evaluation request is ONLY required for coursework not listed on the Georgia Tech transfer equivalency table that satisfies a course requirement for your intended major (required and recommended courses).
Grade Point Average (GPA)
The minimum GPA requirement is 3.3 on a 4.0 grade scale for College of Computing and College of Engineering applicants. The minimum GPA requirement is 3.0 on a 4.0 grade scale for College of Design, College of Sciences, Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, and Scheller College of Business applicants.
