Distance Engineering Program

We are happy to announce our first distance course from the College of Engineering, from the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

What we offer in this area:

  • ISYE 3770: Statistics and Applications (3 hours)

  • The first offering of this course will be Spring 2027. Beginning in Fall 2027, it will be offered each fall and spring.

Anything I should know about this program?

  • Counts toward Probability/Statistics requirements in many engineering/computing pathways (degree-relevant credit).

  • Emphasizes real applications and data-driven decision-making.

  • Includes hands-on statistical computing with R/RStudio.

  • Project-based: students analyze real data and communicate results.

How will classes be taught?

Lectures are pre-recorded and available to students in a learning management system. Students are expected to view three lecture recordings each week. Tests are proctored in person at the high school.

Course Descriptions

This course covers probability and core statistical methods used across business, engineering, and computing (probability distributions, estimation, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, regression, and ANOVA). Students use R/RStudio and complete a real-world data analysis project (team-based, with a short writing component), giving them a concrete portfolio item and practical data skills.

Admission and Prerequisite Information

  • Enrollment in a Georgia high school or Georgia home school.

  • Verification of lawful presence

  • 3.5 unweighted GPA

  • 3.5 unweighted math GPA

  • ACT or PSAT or SAT scores

  • Two college-level courses completed (AP, DE, IB)

  • MATH 2551: Multivariable Calculus or transferable equivalent
